Apart from that, I kind of agree with your last two paragraphs. Yes, it is a sizeable chunk of the Catalan population, not a tiny minority. Yes, their desire for independence is not finding channels of expression, and doesn’t seem to have a future with officials in Madrid.

It’s a tough problem, and I don’t have a solution.

Lies and propaganda from the separatists, subverting the law and acting unilaterally doesn’t seem viable nor productive.

Ditto about reinforcing the institutional deadlock, negating the issue and (ab)using police force from the State.

Most of us in Catalonia and elsewhere in Spain are mostly tired of this, at a loss and disheartened.
